World Champ

I got to spend the morning yesterday swimming in the sea and making art with Honolua. The waves were clean and the air was crisp. It was so beautiful that my heart felt like it was leaving my chest.

I am new to this surf world. I didn’t grow up around it, at all, but now it endlessly fascinates me. I love logging the most. Especially girls. I love watching all my different friends in the water each with their own style. So when Hono asked me to shoot, of course I couldn’t say no!

In case you didn’t know, this girl is just barely 18 and won the world title for women’s longboarding! It’s pretty crazy and I’m so proud of her!

This year I’m hoping to spend more time on land than on sea. I love the ocean more than anything, but it’s also one of my greatest fears. In 2018 I’m hoping to conquer that even more and just get out and shoot.

For those of you curious about shooting in the water, I use SPL Water Housing and just my regular camera. For underwater I use a 15mm 2.8 fisheye and for surf I use my 24-70! I actually have a free course all about equipment that goes over underwater if you’re looking to get into it. You can enroll here!

Enjoy the photos xoxo
