PERU with Charity Vision!

I know, I know – I’m WAY late on sharing about our experience in Peru! One of my goals for 2018 is to stay more on top of blogging so bear with me! This last November Bryant and I got to travel to Cusco, Peru with Charity Vision! Holy cow.. we had the best time ever! Words can’t even express how much this experience means to me. Not only did I get to photograph dozens of beautiful souls, I got to witness the amazing work that Charity Vision does all around the world, every day.

We spent a week in the Cusco area. Each day we got to meet people (my favorite part!) that Charity Vision was helping whether it was through eye screenings, surgeries, education, or giving glasses. Then we’d spend the second half of the day exploring Peru! We got to see tons of ruins and mystical mountain towns. I felt like I stepped back in time when we met the beautiful yet humble quechua people. Their spirits felt so ancient. Their towns felt like something out of a storybook. I know life is difficult for these people, but I couldn’t help but romanticize the towering mountains and colorful clothing.

If you are looking to support an amazing organization such as Charity Vision, here are some ideas!

  • Donate straight to their page! Even $5 helps. I can personally attest to the fact that they are an organization that doesn’t waste any donation money. They are constantly doing good around the world and the main thing they need is simply more money to accomplish more of their goals.
  • As of January 9th, you will be able to purchase a Thread Wallet from the HBGOODIE collection! Instead of getting a cut, I decided to donate my 20% to Charity Vision – so whenever you wear your wallet you can know you’ve done some good in the world. Stay tuned for more information!
  • Go on one of their life changing trips. Most humanitarian trips aren’t focused on actually helping people (aka orphanages and painting school buildings.. cough cough) but this is one that actually does!! Rather than making the participants pat themselves on the back for barely doing anything, Charity Vision simply allows people to come along and see the good work they are doing all the time – and a chunk of your participation fee goes towards the area you are visiting! If you are looking for something to do with the family that will make a change in the world, then I highly recommend going on one of their trips. You can visit their website for more information!

All images are edited with my new presets!

Even though the flight home was pretty rough (Cusco > 12 hours in Lima > Houston > LA > San Francisco > Honolulu… kill me) I will forever hold this experience close to my heart.

So Charity Vision… when are we going back?!
